Yeah, that's one good lesson here. Another lesson I'm taking from this is not to go out with a boat or motor that is less than completely trustworthy. Hypothermia and/or dehydration are also big concerns in a stranded situation. Don't just dress for the expected trip, dress for the contingency plan if there's a disaster. I like lots of wool layers if it's cold, they keep the insulating power when wet. I also always bring about 5 times the water that we could possibly drink for the planned trip. Extra gas too.
