I too was not understanding how to disconnect this tubing. There is a picture showing a hand and a small fitting....looks like a coupling. I was thinking that was what should be squeezed to take the tubing apart.
I have a 40 hp and it does not have this tubing. On my engine....the shift linkage has to be taken apart to drop the lower unit.
