Now the question is...... how close is too close to move in front of a boat's drift? This kind of depends on how fast the boat is drifting.
IMO...... this distance would be 300 to 500 yards using the trolling motor 200+ yards to get into the area.

You can drift behind someone, same drift pattern, and pick up the same amount of fish as them.
