$10,000 difference is way off. A new mercury 150 fourstroke is $10,500, the 150 optimax is $9,700, the 225 optimax is $13,600, and the 225 pro xs is $14,500. And as far as Yamaha they have about a $5000 difference but they are also about $1000 to $1500 more than the Mercury engines. I just know that it also nice to have the extra power and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
