You did not say how you are using your existing light but here is a picture of what I use when going hunting. I mostly run in bayous to get where I am going, so a hand held light works good for me. I also have Q-beam light but I like the yellow light that throws out a very good spot beam. I have seen regular headlights mounted on the front of boats that really seem to work good.

This light was originally mounted on top of a pick-up truck [way back when that was allowed]. When the law was changed, I got the light from my BIL. The light had a 500 watt bulb but when it burned out, I found a 1000 watt bulb as a replacement. There is an on/off switch mount on the handle that is not shown in the picture. I have been using this light for 25 years.
