I have killed 75+ whitetails in my life and 90% of them were killed with either a 300Win or 300WSM. I don't like to trail em. I have also killed elk, antelope, and mule deer with them. Most drop in their tracks. Good all around caliber IMO. WSM makes the rifle alot smaller, lighter, and easier to carry than the standard 300. I have an a Bolt 300 and an a Bolt 300wsm and the weight and length difference is night and day. I have a BOSS on my WSM and Win. My 12 y/o nephew has killed 2-3 deer with it. No recoil at all but it's LOUD.

7mm is a good round too. I have just never owned one but know lots of people that do and love em.
