That is total BS....yamaha makes one of the most reliable motors on the market. I worked at a mercury warranty center for a few years. Opti's are known for compressor problems and coil packs. 90% of mercury's electronics are made in mexico and the quality control is not up to par. Don't get me wrong you can get a good opti that won't die,but they have more lemons compared to the rest.
