Scouts
It's an excellent program, but it takes good adult leaders who are involved and committed. It also takes a fair amount of time to organize and plan field trips and other outings to keep the boys interested. My boys quickly became bored because we would do more adventurous things together that didn’t involve scouting. Such as shooting .22s, fishing and riding 4wheelers. It's easier to manage 2 boys when they are handling weapons and riding 4wheelers than trying to keep track of 20. One thing to keep in mind is that scouting is the only times most of these boys will ever get enjoy the outdoors and other activities. Alot of the boys I mentored came from single parent homes where most of their time was spent around their mother. Overall I think it’s a great program and would allow my boys to join as well as be a scout leader or assistant leader. It was loads of fun. I really enjoyed camping and field trips.
