Find out where there is any kind of group that shoots on a regular basis in your area and go there to learn from them.
Don't set the draw weight to what you "can" pull back. Set the weight to what you can comfortably pull back. If you have to strain a little to pull the string back, that is too much draw weight. You don't need 70 lbs and 300 fps to kill a deer.
Make sure that you bow is properly tuned. Test it your self,. Don't rely on "that guy at the shop set it up" so it is ok. Do a search on "Bow tuning" to learn more. If something on the bow is out of adjustment....even just a tiny bit, your arrows will not fly correctly.

All great advice... one thing to add... make sure you practice with broadheads and hunting clothes on BEFORE you attempt to hunt with your bow.
Sometimes broadheads do not fly the same as your field points. You dont want to miss (or wound) the buck of a lifetime just because you didnt shoot your broadheads.
Make sure your hunting clothes are quiet while drawing and do not get in the way of your string upon release.
Welcome to the club... and have fun!
