Vernon Lake 11/11 & 11/12
Waited til around 0830 to get on the water due to the duck hunters. Pulled some sexy shad crank baits down the boat lane and had a double towards the end in about 20'. Made one more pass and another double. Solid 13" ers. Threw anchor and all they wanted was carolina rigged brush hog's. Finished a 2 man limit (8/person) in around 2 hours. Caught 1 fish approx every 3-5 casts. Water temp was 66.23427394957* and wind was blowing at 11.31423942934 MPH.

Went back 11/12 after the front and found the fish with lockjaw. Tried same place with no success. Seen a few teens in a pirogue (no life jackets on) paddling against the bank shooting divers. They went around the bend and shot back towards my way and made it "rain" on me. Was gonna wait and have a heart to heart with them when they came back through. 30 minutes later I heard what every person fears, "the cry for help". Looked up the boat lane to see the 2 teens in the water. They got in the boat lane in approx 12' of water with a stiff north wind 15+mph and capsized the pirogue. Pulled anchor and went to their rescue, got both kids in my boat saftely and back to shore. Went back to mark the pirogue because it was sinking fast. Was puzzled at how a fiberglass pirogue can sink, but this one did. Marked it with a gatorade bottle, gave the kids some dry clothes (slicker suits) and made them sit in their vehicle with heater on so they would get warm. Called WLF, he was 3 miles away and met me at the launch to pull my truck and boat on trailer out because I had 2' of water in it due to the kid's waders full of water. Kids made it out with only hurt pride.
