Loc: Empire / Venice, La Today was overcast all day and everybody was busy doing christmas preperations. I was forced to get in the bay boat and make one last run before Santa came to visit. It was just about 9:00 when I got started. Going out the marina looked like a ghost town.

I don't know if I lost my hook setting ability, The fish were not agressive, or the bait stealing tiny fish were getting to the hook before the good trout. A little after 10 and alot of bait later I get my first keeper at 13 inches.

I fished this area hard with the big ones ripping the hook out of their mouth before getting to the boat. These fish were not big enough to take drag. I do not like to give the trout drag because it only allows them to make a bigger hole in the mouth allowing the hook to fall out. My day was not going well. I moved to several places and even thought of going to the white trout hole just for meat in the box.

I was convinced I was fishing in an aquarium.

About 1:15 I have my second and third fish hit the deck back to back. I found these fish about 80-100 feet north of where I had started in the morning.

I found a good amount there but had to feed a lot of small ones as I picked through the community.

After an hour of this and 16 in the box I decided to move to another area for redfish. My day continued with nothing but rat reds for me to play with. I did not stay there long and headed towards the jump. That would put me closer to the marina and I had a chance of getting a few more specks.

Once there I saw that my fishie kids followed me knowing I was passing out Christmas meals to all the little fish.

I did manage to put 3 white trout and #'s 17, 18, 19, & 20 in the box. It was getting late but I was determined to stay there till the cows came home if necessary to get my limit. Well guess what started heading to the bedding grounds.

It was after 5:00 when I got my limit and headed to the barn. Came in with my running lights on. Hit tiger pass and blew out the carbon. Brought it up to 50 mph for a minute and then back to 45 before hitting the no wake zone. Got home and cleaned my limit of specks and 3 white trout.

Charlie Oar will get the whites, Mrs Shannon and her 6 kids will get about half of the specks and the rest will be split by 2 other families.

Merry Christmas to all.
