Lake Charles 01-03-13
Made a trip this morning to Lake Charles and Prien and the bite is slow but the fish or still there. I was suppose to have a partner this morning but he never showed guess it was to cold. All fish were caught in deep water between 6 to 12 feet on the edge of the deep holes. Caught a couple on the edge of the ship channel also. The bait that was used today was the root-beer color vudu shrimp and the gold pepper wedge-tail mullet. Managed to put 14 trout and 1 red in the box. Most were caught in the deep holes only about two or three were caught on the edge of the ship channel.
The water was stained and was running from 57 to 59 degrees. The tide was outgoing upon my arrival and went slack after about three hours. The Wedge tail Mullet was connected to a Lew’s reel which was on a Calcasieu Xtreame Rod and the Vudu shrimp were connected to the same set up.
