We have been getting out when the weather will let us but it has been a difficult winter overall. Just hard to pattern the fish when you only get out a day or two per week. That hasnt stopped us from trying and we have been catching some good fish with plenty of schoolie tuna around and some quality wahoo.
The wahoo have mostly been biting xraps in the blue water and bombers in the dirty water and I even got a couple to 80 pounds on the chunk.
The tuna have spread off the lump to most of the surrounding rigs although there are still some on the lump. Any rig in 300 feet or more is now likely to be holding yellowfin and blackfin. The tuna on the rigs are mostly caught jigging or chunking with cut bonito or blackfin.
The jigs are mostly anteater jigs with the best color being orange recently.
The amberjack bite on the jig hasnt been that good recently but they have been smacking live mullets. Looking forward to grouper season opening up in a couple weeks. I love killing scamps.
We did catch a tiger shark bottom fishing the lump and they are quite a beautiful shark to see up close in the blue water. We got him a clean release after snagging some pictures of him.
