I'm by no means an expert in the Cameron-Calcasieu area, but I fished the jetties a few times this past August/September...first time trying.
Didn't catch limits of specks, only between 3-6 each trip, but BIG trout, bigger than I've ever caught. Bounced plastics around the rocks. Stood on jetties a couple times. Couple other times, I fished the rocks right before the park (that way, I didn't have to pay the fee).
Specks would bite earlier in the morning, then I would switch to bait shrimp and catch flounder and sheephead. LOTS of flounder in that area along the rocks.
