You would be surprised that a lot of 21-22ft boats do fine with 150s on them. Sometimes upgrading to a 200 only gets you a few mph faster and depending on the setup will burn a lot more gas. On most of the lighter hull boats a 150 is perfect unless your into the whole speed thing. Just an example I used to have a 22ft pathfinder and it ran real good with a 150 V-MAX upgraded to a 200 V-MAX and it did gain speed but my gas mileage went to way down. But with the heavier 21-22 footers yes they need at least 200s.
