Same rule applies to many rules on the lake. If you go to beach and catch a limit of reds then decide to make a little run offshore past the state line and target bigger fish then come back in and get stopped and checked before you reach state waters then you will be ticketed for each red even though they were caught in legal waters- trust me they will still give you a ticket. Same applies to crabs and shrimp. You can have lots more outside the weirs, but the moment you cross the line going into the weirs you better not have in possesion more than is allowed behind the weirs. I know lots of people who have made this mistake and got everything taken from them even though crabs and shrimp were caught legally but when they were checked they were behind the weirs. As "W" stated, once they were back there after dark then everything in their possesion became illegal.
