Default Big Lake Sunday 11 Oct 2009

Didn't see any reports today, so thought I'd put one out. Despite the 30-40% rain forecast, my sweetheart wife and I drove over and gave it a go. 15-20 MPH steady NE winds and slight mist at 7:30, we put first lines in at Turner's. I was throwing a Brown's black cat devil eye on a 1/8 oz. light jig and sweetie was popping a live shrimp. Water was high and a little muddy but not too muddy, maybe a little copper colored. Saw some yakkers out and about. Picked up a nice speck on the artificial and nothing else. Started a fast wind-aided drift out of Turner's and floated directly upwind of working birds. Picked up two nice reds and three more specks. Looped back around and picked up another red and another dink under the birds again. Most were picked up on the devil eye

Now it's 10:30, felt pretty good at this point and decided to not push it and worked our way back to the landing. Picked up a black drum, another speck, and another red in the channel. Called it quits at noon, drove back and just had two of the reds off the half shell. Saving the rest for a fish fry on my daughter's birth day. Life's Good!
