I have a black man that used to frequent our shop. He is 94 years old. One day he started talking about "his" younger generation. He referenced "the struggle" that so many younger folks talk about today. His response to it was, "N(word)'s these days don't know a damn thing about any sort of struggle. They sleep all day. They have every chance to do whatever they want to do. When I was a young man, I had to step off the sidewalk if a white man was walking down it at the same time. I plowed fields with mules for pennies and, was glad to have those pennies. These kids today don't know $#@* about no struggle."

Mr. AJ, I fear has passed because I haven't seen him in some time but, he left a great impression on me.
