Headknocker Observing Other Anglers

This past weekend I was working out of the ports in Galveston and observed some interesting fishermen jigging for flounder. It made me appreciate how much water we have access to here in Louisiana and how at least most of us know how to utilize a trolling motor.

Over the course of 2 days I observed 4 very specific spots in two boat slips that were fished 24/7 by different groups of boats. Each of these spots were literally the same 20' radius. Probably 8/10 boats would pull up with the big motor, THROW out the anchor, and drop lines....and maybe caught 1 fish after an hour. Most of the time they would idle around in a few circles in the boat slip before deciding where to drop anchor. I even saw some guys crank up the outboard and fish for 20 minutes with the motor running before they headed out!
