Beware! Your insurance company is required by law to notify the state that your insurance has lapsed / been canceled. But even if you get more insurance or turn in the plate before the lapse or on same day .The insurance company is NOT required to notify the state. So, all the state knows is you have no insurance and they flag your license. So if you get stopped or try to renew your license you will need to show where you picked up insurance or turned in plate on same day or before the lapse.
