I hated math in school. It was my biggest academic challenge by far.
In college, I almost changed my major to ceramics so I wouldn't have to take any more math courses!
I eventually became good at math in grad school, and then later as an engineer realized how powerful and useful math really is.
Eventually ended up on the math faculty of the Air Force Academy.
Achieving MathGeekdom was a hard earned accomplishment for me.
