I think it was back in 2000 my buddy had a canoe he used to fish behind the levee in Port Sulphur. We took it to Myrtle Grove the day after the first real cold snap - among a dozen boats of all description - and pretty much caught trout until we just didn't want to catch anymore. He was using a fly rod with sinking line and I was using a jig. He was really talented with the fly rod and caught on to the program pretty quick after I got up on him about 7 to zero. Good times!
People were lined up on both sides of the bank, mostly catching but not near as much as those in boats. Of course some on the banks were catching more than some in boats. It's the same in the deep trout spots in the marsh. Some people have a knack for feeling the bite and some just don't.
