I have found the electric knives made for cleaning fish are underpowered and usually don't last long.

when you buy one get a regular electric carving knife because they are made to handle bigger cuts and will last longer.

I agree the GE and Hamilton beach ones get way too hot to hold after around 20-25 fish, they aren't made to handle non-stop continued use. you have to take a break to let it cool off but I had a lot to clean and it was late so I failed to do this once and wrapped a towel on it so I could hold it and I burned the motor up just as I finished two limits of reds and 50 trout.
