Pensacola is not that far a drive. Folks over that way get into a lot of neat fish within sight of the beach. No need to risk lives bringing a small boat 50 miles out.

Depending on your species preferences, there is a lot of neat stuff off of the big bend area of Florida too.

The silt and nutrients from the Mississippi are a great blessing to Louisiana, but they also define some of the limitations.

And if you must chase the pelagics off the LA coast, a ride in the charter boats is very cost effective when compared to a ride in a hearse.
