Default 4/29/14 Texas guys wouldn't be denied

I helped Capt. Rob out today with a large group that were mostly in from Texas. Even with the terrible forecast the guys wanted to go due to the difficulty in rescheduling such a large group. No problem with me as long as it's safe I'll fish in anything. Mark, Riley, and Randy jumped on the Bluewave at around 8 for a late start. We stuck to the plan of fishing protected areas due to the 20+ mph winds today and the 30-40mph the last two days. We started off hitting points with shrimp under a cork. The guys caught fish on all but one point. A lot of rat reds and throwback drum but just as many made the box. We even caught 7 trout with 4 hitting the K2. One was 15 inches. I was surprised to see that many trout hitting dead shrimp. We left the smaller fish in search of bigger reds. Straight into some ponds we went. Grass was thick but with the water so high we just kept our Tiger Bait Matrix above the grass. We hooked 5 in the first 100 yards with 4 making the team. We managed a couple more before calling it a day. May is here so hopefully the trout will respond but if not it's always good to have the marsh system we do in Dularge as a back up. Thanks Capt. Rob DuPont for setting up the trip.
