How hard are they to pull out of the ground if you stick em good?

I made one for my 21' boat a few years back. I didn't have any 3/4" rod like all of the anchors I've looked at, but I had some 1-1/2" so I made it 4' long. I figured double the width then half the height, right? WRONG! We used it for the first time in White Lake. My buddy speared it in like freaking Zeus throwing a lightning bolt. When we were ready to go, he started pulling on the rope and it wouldn't budge. My little @$$ got on the rope with him and both of us pulling it wouldn't budge. By that time the waves were kicking up like they tend to do in White Lake so we got the idea of using the cleat and the waves to pull it out. When the boat dipped down we pulled all of the slack around the cleat waiting for The wave to pull up the anchor, but the boat stayed put and the waves came in the boat!!! We had to tie it up and use the big motor to pull it out. The mud line was almost 4' up the rope!! Needless to say we just eased it in afterwards. Worked great after that.

Now I said all that to say this... I bought a 3/4" stainless shallow water anchor and that thing is the tits compared to the one I built. But mine is awesome to use as drag when drift fishing! Lol
