Although main stream media certainly played its part, I don't think that the average american thinks it important to constantly and publically give thanks to god. I would hazard a guess that most give there thanks personally in a private one on one with god. But i do understand what your saying.
Point that i was trying to make is that they were both following there convictions in a courageous way. It took courage for Tebow to break with the current norm and do what he did... It took no less courage for Michael Sam to do what he did.
