I use Johnson gold spoons, spinnerbaits and top water frogs. Pull the spoon or spinner across the grass until you feel the bait come free of the grass let the bait fall then start working it again. Most of the hits come after you pull out of the grass. With the Top Water frog work it over the grass and stop the frog when you see a clear patch let it sit for a couple of seconds and the hit comes once the bait moves. With the frog let the red eat it before setting the hook. You will need to fish braided line because they like to bury the head in the grass. Hope this helps.
