You aren't going to get tens of thousands of people traveling through the Basin every year like you do Yosemite and Yellowstone.

So they are going to change the culture of the area forever....for what?

I honestly don't think making it a National Park does anything for the area. They state that the objective is to protect the 1,000 to 1,200 year old cypress trees in this part of the Basin. When was the last time there were mass harvests of Baldcypress? 100 years ago?

They talk about how it becoming a State Park is not a good idea because they tend to cut down trees to build roads for access, but yet the Sierra Club wants to provide more access to the Basin. How exactly?!?!?!?
