I suppose it could if there was a problem with it but more often what you describe is a battery issue.

to test take the battery leads off when you store it and if its still charged the next time then its related to the bike and not the battery.

those cheap motorcycle batteries at walmart are famous for doing exactly as you describe, sometimes I had to replace them every single year, that's why I only use the yausa batteries now. they don't cost that much more but almost always last 5-6 years or more being completely trouble free.
