Went by myself and limited out this Sunday. Trout caught on sparkle beetles under a popping cork. Reds were caught on strike king 1xs crankbait. Winds kept folks away but everyone I ran into caught some fish. Gotta wade through the small runts.
Lures:
Clear and chartreuse sparkle beetles on an h&h 1/8 oz jighead under a popping cork rigged with two feet of 20lb test leader.
Strike King 1XS in sexy shad.
Water temp:
55 degrees at sunrise. Warmed up to 58ish by the time I was done
Winds:
Gusting 5-10 mph
Patterns:
Trout were holding under the birds. Didn't get a single bite until an hour after the sunrise. Water temps slow crept up and so did the action. Redfish were in the marsh and cruising. Sight casted all of them.
After the fillet:
Most trout were empty but a few had shrimp in them. Nice fat trout if not small. Biggest was 17". Most were 13-14" The Reds had dozens of little tiny minnows no bigger than a nickel.
