I don't what model you had but I can't find anything about their product to be a step down. If you used their smaller model with a bigger outboard I'd expect it to have problems. Better quality parts than seastar. Made in the USA. Easier to bleed all the air out of the lines. Seals hold up longer. What is your definition of a step down?
