I use a rope system that we use in rope rescue and attach it to my tractor. It's called the radium release hitch. I use it as a non functioning 3:1 mechanical advantage/ lowering system. It is really easy to tie and makes lowering if you have to a breeze. I lowered my stand with one hand literally. To raise it you just tie it short and anchor to a tractor an you have 3 ropes pulling for you.
