I don't think it makes a difference. Let common sense be your guide. I haven't put a radio in my boat and I don't think im going to. I just have a Bluetooth wireless speaker paired to Pandora or Iheartradio. I can get some local stations on Iheart so I don't really see a need to install a radio right now.
