IMO..... unless you take your trolling motor off the boat for "safe" storage, I would "Hard wire" it and not use a Plug-in type connector. I got 2 connectors like shown in pic from Home Depot [Lowe's did not have one small enough].

I seal it up with "Liquid Tape" then put a short piece of old rubber hose over the connectors to be sure vibration does not cause it to wear thin and cause a short.
