The beach looked great today. Just a light ripple, and I would say 8-10 inch visibility. I caught my first speck in the surf on live shrimp. No big accomplishment, but I was excited to get my first in the surf. It was 11 inches, so this one won't be going on the wall.... There were a couple guys near me. One caught a few small trout, and the other caught 4 that all went better than 15 inches. What was hot, was the redfish bite. I switched from trout to reds around 10:00, or whenever the sun came out. I caught 4 in 2 1/2 hours that ranged from 35 to 42 inches. I had another that was in that range, but he gave me a massive head jerk about 30 yards out and snapped a swivel on my leader. It was time to change it anyway. The bait was as crazy as I've ever seen it this morning. I caught 26 shrimp in one cast net throw. They were squarely in the bait range, so I most definitely had to buy some to bring home to the Mrs. The key to catching the Bulls on the beach today was double rigged, cut ladyfish. They were on those like crazy. I could only fish one rod because they were hitting so fast for that couple hours. All in all, another great day on the water!
