If you were towing something like a bateau or something thats relatively light, as long as what you are towing with a heavy enough rope stays in the middle of your wake, you should be fine. As long as they don't dive over your wake it'll be good. First time I got towed, I knocked my 9.9 off the back of the boat and got towed in by a Bullet with a 225 and we planed off and were good as long as i stayed in the middle. Last time I was involved with a tow of a marsh hopping duck boat, the guys (3) all piled in to our boat (17ft express) and as we (dumbass driver) planed out and the duck boat fell over our wake and nose dived into the water losing some shotguns (temporarily... in january). It does take a little more umph to get up but once it gets up as long as it stays in the middle, it'll be good. I have about 30-45 feet of 1" US government approved rope that some smaller boats in the navy use to tie themselves to the pier and that has actually pulled my truck out of a ditch so thats what I'm going to use when I get a boat and have to tow someone in.
