Default Letter to JBE from Treasurer Kennedy

Kudos to State Treasurer John Kennedy for standing up for Louisiana Anglers. He sent out this press release and letter to Governor Edwards on Friday, questioning the recent actions by his Department of Wildlife and Fisheries regarding Red Snapper.

Treasurer Kennedy: Louisianians Deserve Answers On Red Snapper Issue
BATON ROUGE, LA -

State Treasurer John Kennedy praised U.S. Rep. Garret Graves today for raising questions about the Edwards administration's opposition to state management of the Gulf of Mexico's red snapper stock. Treasurer Kennedy asked Gov. John Bel Edwards to get to the bottom of the issue and offer Louisiana fishermen an explanation.

"Garret has worked hard to take management away from federal bureaucrats and put control of this precious resource in the hands of our own people," said Treasurer Kennedy. "In fact, the Edwards administration just raised fees in order to pay for the management transfer. Why in the world would the state's wildlife and fisheries secretary fight this transfer like a terrier fighting to keep ahold of a bone? Every single person in Louisiana deserves an answer on why something is rotten in the sportsman's paradise."
