It has been a long time since my grandfather had his farm and bailed alfalfa. My brothers and I were old enough to do the cutting and raking. But when it the guy came to bail the hay, granddad had him bail it at 50 to 55 lbs [the cost was like $ .15 per bail] so we could do most of the lifting and throwing the bails on the hay wagon.
Now my question...... those bails look almost too green. I remember the alfalfa bails to be a brownish green color. Should this farmer let the hay dry a little bit more before bailing the hay? If the hay is still "wet", it could mold while in storage. This was 50+ years ago, maybe my memory is off a bit.
