Are the hot and cold valves separate or one handle mixing valve that gets hotter the further you turn the valve , if it's a one handle mixing valve the problem is in the cartridge inside the valve. There should be valves that you can turn off with a screwdriver behind the valve cover plate and you can then take out the cartridge .. this can be done without affecting water in the rest of the house, make sure you have a water key for the street valve just in case. Take out cartridge and take to plumbing store to match up a replacement. While the cartridge is out you can crack open the valve on the hot side just to make sure hot water is getting there, plumbing store may have a complete rebuild kit for the mixing valve. gOOD LUCK
