Back in the day when we had shallow grass flats (now just sand flats
), the floating grass would get pretty thick late in the summer and I used a lot of weightless plastics fished as topwaters. The best were the Culprit Dart Bait and the Kicker Fish Shad Stick which are both out of production.
I'll certainly give these a try.
