Nothing wrong with the rifle but the scope is more than likely going to give you fits. Spend some money and get as good a scope as you can afford. Academy sells the Weatherby Vanguard (I think thats the model) in that price range. Remington and Savage should also have an offering in that range as well.
I'm not into the WSSM's so I would say get a regular .270 or a .308, definitely bolt action, stock and barrel dependent on where and how you will use it.
