Here's an "older than dirt" 302 story.

My best friend in high school in 1976 inherited a lime green automatic-shift Maverick from his grandpaw who lived about 4 hours away. If you don't remember the Maverick, it was like a Gremlin back then. Reeel ugly. Needless to say my buddy was depressed.

His one year older brother (who had never driven the Maverick but had a hot late-60's Mustang) drove over and retrieved it. I remember clearly the day I was at his house when he drove up in it. His older brother got out and told my buddy he'd straight up trade him. We couldn't believe it. Here was a lime green/shat brown interior Maverick POS and his older brother was willing to part with his 'Stang??? Yep, because it had a 302 in it.

My buddy spent a little money and put some headers on it - a wolf in sheep's clothing - it was so loud..... I remember us drinking Miller little ponies on weekend nights and pulling up behind the Kroger and spinning the tires with the windows down...it was deafining. That muther was summm quick....
