Default big lake and grand chenier 8-24-10

was a another bad day at big lake for me ...got there bout 8:30..had live shrimp from calc. point....leaving Hebert's we ran into some bird action....but all we caught was gafftops or hardheads..ran to the weirs..fished the 2nd weir..nothing...ran to 3rd weir and went through and fished that lil gate going south..nothing for the box...fished the backside of the 4th...a couple of undersized reds....bout noon we tucked our tails and went to the mermentau river at grand chenier...fished the jettys-gulf side and the bridge...and managed to scratch out 5 keeper reds......bout all we had to show for $17 of live shrimp and a long azz day.....

on the way back decided to head into cameron to see if we could buy some fresh shrimp...all we could find was some 21-25 count for $4 a lb..deheaded...picked up 10lbs of them....gonna be eatin good in the hood tomorrow night!!

on a side note...this was my first time in cameron since the hurricanes....damn... ike and rita really did a number on them nothing but slabs where houses/business's used to be...lots of campers and mobile homes now...
