Default Port Aransas Fishing

Took the family down to Port Aransas and had a great time for a mini vacation. I was only able to fish at night because the beach was ROUGH from the swells of TS Arlene. While night fishing in the lights from the public piers my bro in law and I were able to catch a good bit of trout, BUT they mostly were too small to keep by Texas regs. (would've limited out if in La.) We were able to keep a few for our efforts each night we fished. We used white sparkle beetles, small Rapala jerkbaits and pearl Mr. Twister curly tails and jigged em through the lights.

Nice. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. We went there for a 3 day fishing trip the 1st week of June and had a great time. We too struggled to put a limit of keepers together but caught a mess of dinks. We did manage to put a few triple tails in the boat. Town has good food and the water was beautiful (for Texas)=P

Definitely would like to go back and do it again. Very relaxing to get away and fish.

What area did you guys stay in / fish?

We got a rented a camp on the west side of the bay in the community City by the Sea. Fished mostly Traylor, Talley, & Mud Island flats.

We stayed in Port Aransas on Mustang Island in a Beach House that we rented from our friends from church. It was about 5 miles west of the Ferry Landing. We fished on a couple of lighted piers called Charlie's Pasture Pier and Station Street Pier. There are several others, but we didn't fish those. There's a big one in the surf called Caldwell Pier and it's lighted too. Surf was way too rough. I wish I could have fished the Jetties, but it was hard to get away being with the Kids. It's a great area for a vacation. We did the Dolphin Boat Tour, ate at a couple good restaurants, did the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi, and the beach. hecked out the Party Boat catches. They had no prob catching their limits of snapper, but didn't have much else to show but some sharks, cudas, and cobias. It was my 1st time to fish there and I hope the conditions will be better next time..
