Launched at Quintana yesterday afternoon with Gilmo, wind blowing stout out of the SW, 3' rollers and caps at the mouth and through the bay. Headed to weeks bay to find beautiful, calm water.
Beat the banks and fished some bait activity on the open - no trout, managed a couple of red with 1 keeper. Caught 5 sharks, they were in full force!
My buddy leaned his pole on the gunnel for a minute with his bait just at the water line. We heard a clunk, and turned around just in time to see his rod and reel swimming away. What the hell?? That sucks...
A while later, I'm slingin far and dragging plastic w/ jighead on bottom and hook what feels like a lazy flounder, I'm pumped given how slow things were... Get it to the boat and all I see is mono hanging from my hook, keep pulling and it slides to the end and there is a shark on!! What's on the other end?? Nawwwwwwww, can't be! The rod and reel that zoomed off earlier!
No wonder fisherman get labeled as liars, good thing I've found the only audience that would believe something like this. The only catch I could have made that would be luckier than that is an elusive, CCA raged red.
