Took my boss and another co-worker on their first Louisiana saltwater experience. Launched at the intercoastal around 9 and headed to Black Lake thinking the wind would be calmer and the water cleaner. It was, but the fish were apparently elsewhere. We picked up two small black drum in there chunking frozen shrimp on jig heads, and I picked up one rat red on a gulp swim mullet under a popping cork.

Figured if they were going to catch anything best bet would be jetties. So we headed down the rive and moved outside the first cut on the west side. There was already a boat set up on the shore side of the cut so we moved to the gulf side. Started soaking cut mullet. Not sure if there was something different about our bait than theirs but they were pulling in fish after fish while we just watched. We eventually hooked up on a couple and my boss managed to land one at 39 inches and around 19 lbs. Biggest red I'd seen caught from my boat and his first and biggest red ever.

Departed there around 5 for the trek back up the river. Long day on the water for 4 fish in the boat and we all got a little too much sun. But it was fun! All fish were CPRed.
