Default ? on area North of Turners Bay.

We have a camp not to far from Turners and we always drive up into the area around Choupique island. One area we have always wondered about but never been brave enough to explore is the area just North of Turner bay. It is a large bay structure with multiple inlets. Not sure how deep it is or if anyone has ever fished it.
Also at one of the entrances there has some long wooden structures on either side of the opening. Why was this stuff installed?

Thanks for the info.
