Rigging Poles for Pilgrims
My thought process is spinning reel with straight, lightweight mono for trouts. Then if we switch to cork; they can clip on and keep fishing trout, put a heavy leader for reds, or heavy leader and remove the cork for bottom. Am I on the right track?? I want to put braid, but don't want to have to keep worrying about the leader for throwing plastics without a cork for trout. The goal here is to give them and myself more time to fish, I will be retying enough as it is.... And I don't have 17 poles in the boat that I can pre rig for every scenario. |

Use a sliding cork the one that clamps on top and bottom, For cork fishing. Easy to take off or change the depth you want to fish at.
Also put a beed on then the line then tie the quick connect / swivel, this makes it easy for switching btw Bottom/jig/topwater. Beed is for if they reel in to much it stop the quick connect from get caught in the eye. sent from my Galaxy NOTE II |

there ya go! When I bring someone I usually try to bring them a separate rod for throwing a cork, and then the other rod is exactly what alphaman said |

Try that sliding cork nx time. Thats they way my boys pole is set up. Quick and easy pop that cork off and on to the nx. And some have a weight in the bottom and a rattle inside.

No issues with jigging trout and having the quick connect? I worry about them seeing it, then again I have wore then out with a guy that was fishing a black wire leader with quick connect.
Basically always have a leader on with a quick connect? 18" leader? |

If I have the braid for my spinners, should I go with it in this config or just the mono?

I close the gap on the spinner baits so I can still use quick connection

I'm close to what Alpha does. I put a red beed then a swivle on the braid and on the other side of the swivel I tie a Mono leader usually 25/30 pound and use the clip on Egg style float. I don't use a snap because I worry about them straigtening with a big red. Tie a lead head direct to the mono. If they want to fish Shrimp good if they want to fish artifical good float on or off it all works this way then If I want to rig it tandem I just cut the leader off and pass the loop of the tandem rig through the eye of the swivel.
