Default calcasieu point 4-1

i just bought my first power boat, an xpress, and thought i'd give it and my truck a good breaking in trip to calcasieu point. it was pretty windy, so big lake was too rough for my tastes. i hit a few points around the ship channel with no luck. hit the lng area with no luck. me and my buddy decided my boat has a shallow enough draft, so we checked out an old kayak fishing spot near the lock. i caught 2 reds, but my anchor came off and my 40lb thrust trolling motor couldn't hang with the wind, so we headed in. i had fun getting to know my boat in the rough water, and learned a valuable lesson. do not get anchor rope that has a D clip on it. tie the rope to the anchor yourself. also, does anybody know any tips with an eagle cuda 350 gps? the depthfinder works great, but the gps wouldn't pick up a sattelite signal.

You gotta use a shackle to connect your rope to your chain and another shackle to hook the chain to your anchor, if you are using a conventional fluke type or plow anchor.
